GNC/JYC Leads

Before the current school year GNC/JYC is over...

January-May

• Step 1(January): Encourage current team members to invite their family, friends and church leaders to attend our CEF Banquet on Saturday March 2nd from 10:00-11:30am at Community Presbyterian Church in La Mirada. This is a wonderful opportunity to tell others about CEF and the public school after-school programs: GNC/JYC. Don't wait until September to recruit new team members.
• Step 2(January): Start dialogue with current team members about returning in the fall season; get a verbal commitment if you can.
• Step 3(January): Recruit new team members & encourage them to sign-up for S.S #4 on February 3rd from 9-11am at Granada, so they can observe how we conduct a training session and get a feel of what GNC/JYC is all about. The hope is that they will sign up for one of the Basic Trainings during the summer and join a team.
• Step 4 (March): Start dialogue with current school principals and teachers about returning in the fall season. Sometimes the current year principals might move to a different school, and they wouldn't know who the new principal is until later, but it's always good to be in the know. Make sure they know you and the team. Don’t let them forget about the Good News Club or JYC.
• Step 5 (April): Get the School District Calendar for next school year to plan out your club meeting/non-meeting dates. Email the GNC calendar to Tom. Fill out the Google-Facility Form questionnaire by May1st.
• Step 6 (April): Find out when the Back-To-School Night is. You may check online or call the school office. Also very important, find out how parents learn about after-school programs for your club's school, ie. PeachJar, ParentsSquare, Parent Portals ect… Let the principal know that we would like someone from the school to email our electronic flyer to the parents so that they can register their child(ren) for GNC & JYC electronically when we return in the fall.
• Step 7 (April): Encourage your GNC/JYC team members to attend the End of the Year Meeting/Celebration on Saturday May 4th from 9-11 upstairs at Granada Heights friend church.

Director will contact the school districts in May to get a clear understanding on any classroom fees and facility form requirements that might have changed from last year.

June-September

***Please know that from June to August there’s 12 Weeks Before SCHOOL Starts***

By August the Director will contact the Lead Teacher to review the school calendar and Facility Request Form.

By September all team members must have taken the Mandatory Refresher Course and GNC/JYC will launch the week of September 16-20.
